weekend conversation assignments


week 1

Talk About It  |  Must Do
Ask your child to describe a few of the ways humans impact our waterways.

Write About It  |  May Do
Share your story of the moment that you first met your child . . . what time of day was it?  Were you excited?  What was the first thing you did together?  Have your child write a few notes about the story you tell them.

Week 2

Talk About It  |  Must Do
Share with your child one thing about them that makes you proud!

Write About It  |  May Do
Ask your child to write a few sentences and draw a picture about what they would do if they had a special day just with you.

Week 3

Talk About It  |  Must Do
Ask your child if they had any disagreements with their Aquabotz build team.  How did they overcome the disagreements?

Write About It  |  May Do
Write a short story about your favorite sports team.  Have your child read it back to you!

week 4

Talk About It  |  Must Do
Discuss this quote: Perseverance is failing 19 times and succeeding the 20th - Julie Andrews.  Tell your child about a time when you had to persevere.

Write About It  |  May Do
Ask your child what their favorite month of the year is.  Then, help them write three complete sentences that explain why.

week 5

Talk About It  |  Must Do
To prepare for returning to school and keeping good grades, think about and discuss these tips for a great home workspace: have a designated spot where you always read/write/do homework, make sure it has good lighting, a sturdy surface to write on, a comfortable place to sit, and a place to store supplies.  Keep it organized and clean!

Write About It  |  May Do
Draw a picture of your home workspace.  Label key features such as lights, a hard surface to write on, and a place to store your supplies.
